DAY 3/30 | Creating a Handmade Gemstone Necklace Inspired by Nature đâ¨
Today's inspiration comes from this beautiful shellâa reminder that nature often says the most with the least. At first glance, it feels simple, but the longer you look, the more details reveal themselves. I'm especially drawn to the contrast between the vibrant blue and warm orange, set against the shell's soft, iridescent surface.
To translate that palette into jewellery, I chose Red Agate, Blue Agate, Freshwater Pearls, warm-toned ceramic beads, and a bold, sculptural Sterling Silver clasp that became a feature of the design itself.
As I was making this piece, I found myself thinking about where my jewellery journey began.
Long before Yellow became a brand, I was a teenager spending hours hand-threading beaded necklaces at my desk. Those quiet moments of creating eventually grew into the business I have today. Even now, I'm still fascinated by gemstones and pearlsâtheir natural colours, organic shapes, and the fact that no two are ever exactly alike.
This necklace is a little nod to those beginnings.
One of my favourite details is its versatility. Wear the sculptural clasp at the front as a bold design feature, or style it at the back for a more classic, understated look. Two ways to wear the same piece, depending on your mood.
